Tecno Sunblock thermochromic glass is a smart glass patented by Prof. Wen Weijia, professor of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and winner of the National Natural Science Award in 2014.

At low temperatures, the nanomolecules are dispersed uniformly in the solution, while as the temperature rises, micelles are formed and, with a further increase in temperature, these come together and create bonds.

The thermochromic glass thus changes its state from transparent to opaque, and vice versa, based on a set temperature which can range from -20°C to +70°C. This means that the glass is able to maintain a comfortable temperature both during the hot months, reducing the use of air conditioning, and during the winter, always guaranteeing an adequate level of light.
